This full day, 7km private tour explores the wild eastern side of the Mewia Łacha Reserve and is rated as challenging due to uneven terrain, soft sand, and off-track walking. We begin in Świbno, around 45 minutes by bus from central Gdańsk, where we’ll meet and take a short ferry ride across the Vistula to Mikoszewo. From there, the route leads us through peaceful pine forest that gradually shifts into more mixed, untamed woodland. Following narrow, wild trails, we may encounter fallen logs and undergrowth as we make our way to a quiet causeway beside the river. We then reach the dunes—beautiful but tough on the legs—where we slow down to watch for seabirds such as terns and gulls, and often spot grey seals resting on distant sandbanks. After a well-earned stop for lunch by the coast, we loop back into the forest on quieter wildlife trails, avoiding the main tourist paths to maximise chances of bird and mammal sightings.

With over 260 recorded bird species, this reserve is a true wildlife hotspot—an ideal destination for spotting everything from coastal seabirds and waterfowl to woodland species deep in the forest. Depending on the season, birds of note that can be spotted here include:

  • Great Crested Grebe

  • Curlew Sandpiper

  • Sandwich Tern

  • Caspian Tern

  • Northern Pintail

  • Smew

  • Northern Lapwing

  • Eurasian Oystercatcher

  • Common Ringed Plover

  • Osprey

  • Great Egret

  • Sanderling

  • Northern Shoveler

  • Black-tailed Godwit

  • Ruff
